your questions, answered

  • 1-week before treatment: Limit blood-thinning agents, such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Alleve, excessive garlic, vitamin E, gingko biloba, St. John’s Wort, and Omega-3 capsules.

1-3 days before treatment: Limit excessive alcohol intake, the use of topical retinoids or vitamin A derivatives (to minimize skin irritation).

Day of: Come to your appointment having already completed your workout for the day, and without any make-up (we want to make sure you have a ‘clean canvas’ to allow for more precise treatment).

  • Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHa) forms a matrix (scaffolding) that integrates into the skin and stimulate your body to create its own collagen and elastin over a long period of time.

Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) works to gradually restore lost collagen, the most common protein in the body that is used to form a framework of support cells and tissues. When injected, it helps to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, lift the skin, and restore its strength.

  • Collagen takes time to build, and patience is key.
For the best results and duration, we do recommend at least 2 sessions scheduled 4-8 weeks apart.

  • This type of product is not indicated for use in places that may be vulnerable to arterial compromise, or vascular occlusion. Unlike HA fillers, CaHa fillers do not have an enzymatic antidote that can dissolve it should a rare complication, like a vessel occlusion occur. As a result, we do not inject areas that carry a higher risk for this.

  • Any form of injections can cause discomfort and soreness. As a result, we apply topical numbing anesthetic at least 15 minutes before we inject. Should the topical numbing agent not suffice for pain levels, we also have options to apply local anesthesia. A lot of injectable brands also now carry anesthetic already mixed inside the syringe.

  • Minor bruising, bleeding, discomfort, soreness, and mild pain are commonly expected with injections.

  • Paleness, mottled, or ashy skin at the area of injection that spreads with time and does not self-resolve.

Extremely acute, sharp pain that is NOT expected and does not resolve.

Numbness and tingling, loss of physical movement, shortness of breath, chest pain, visual impairment.

Please call us IMMEDIATELY if these side effects occur. We will instruct you on what to do.

  • Expect your results to last anywhere from 12-18 months. A yearly top-up is recommended to maintain skin results.
